This is the hilarious moment a rat suddenly dropped from an office ceiling, sending terrified workers scrambling to safety on top of their desks.

The female colleagues were busy with their paperwork when a ten-inch rodent fell onto a table and scurried across the floor in East Java, Indonesia.

CCTV footage shows the women shrieking and leaping onto furniture to avoid the pest as it searched for a way out of the room.

Some of them stood on their chairs while appearing to be unsure of what to do.

The entrance door was closed so the animal could not slip out.

The office's entrance door was initially closed, trapping the animal that darted back and forth.

Office worker Enchiae said: 'It was so funny and scary at the same time. Nobody knew what to do. We just screamed and tried to get as far away from it as possible.'

Some employees fled outside for safety, while others stayed, perched on desks and chairs, until the rat finally found its own way out.
