A meteor was spotted streaking across the sky in Alaska during the April Lyrids.

Alaska State Troopers witnessed the fireball over the Mat-Su Valley on the morning of April 24.

Dashcam footage shows the bright meteorite illuminating the clear skies as the officers navigate the road.

Local media reported that the celestial object was seen stretching from Homer to Wasilla.

A meteorological database that tracks fireball sightings recorded more than half a dozen reports from the region.

While the exact cause of the fireball has not yet been confirmed, the timing aligns with the ongoing Lyrid Meteor Shower.

The Lyrid meteor shower is an annual event that typically occurs every April. It is caused by the Earth passing through the debris left behind by the comet Thatcher. These debris particles burn up upon entering the Earth's atmosphere, creating bright streaks of light, known as meteors, in the night sky.
