This is the dramatic moment brave cops disarmed a knifeman holding a woman hostage in Vietnam.

CCTV footage shows the suspect wielding a butcher's knife while restraining his alleged wife in a headlock during a tense standoff with police in Vinh Long.

The pair were seen in a hammock, with the woman seated on the floor, as officers and concerned motorists stood at the doorway, attempting to distract the man using deception and storytelling.

Moments later, police officers and two motorcyclists charged at the suspect, overpowering him and pinning him to the ground on April 26.

The woman was safely pulled from his grasp and led into another room.

Local media reported that the victim did not suffer any serious injuries, and the suspect was taken into custody.
