Marine engineering students rammed each other's miniature boats at a school race.

Footage shows the youngsters launching the homemade vessels into the pool in Davao del Sur, the Philippines.

One of the watercrafts had a Mad Max-style theme built with a flamethrower on the side.

The small boats were designed to crash into one another, with the last one remaining afloat declared the winner on May 2.

Participant Jhon Rydel Jumamil said: 'We made them for the exhibit and after that we did the boat wars.'

The igniting boat was split in half after being rammed by another, but its portion where fire spouted survived.

The series is known for its gritty desert landscapes, anarchic societies, intense car chases, and heavily modified vehicles.
