PRESIDENT OF CROATIA ZORAN MILANOVIC GIVING STATEMENT TO PRESSSKOPJE, NORTH MACEDONIA - MAY 7: North Macedonia values Croatia's support in its European Union (EU) membership process, said North Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova on Wednesday, May 7. Davkova and Croatian President Zoran Milanovic met in the capital Skopje. After a bilateral meeting, the two leaders made statements to members of the press. Davkova said that North Macedonia and Croatia have traditionally friendly relations and that these relations will be further developed. Croatian President Milanovic said only North Macedonian people can decide what is important for North Macedonia. He warned North Macedonian people saying: "Don't be a victim of any coercion when it comes to EU membership." North Macedonia applied for EU membership in 2004 and received candidate country status in 2005 after Croatia. North Macedonia, whose EU accession negotiations began in 2020, became a member of NATO in the same year.
