ALBANIAN EUROPE AND FOREIGN MINISTER ELISA SPIROPALI SPEAKING AT PRESS CONFERENCE TIRANA, ALBANIA - NOV. 17: German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said Monday, Nov. 17, that Albania is progressing on its path toward European Union integration during a joint press conference in Tirana, Albania.

Wadephul, who is visiting Western Balkan countries for official meetings, held talks with Albania’s Europe and Foreign Minister Elisa Spiropali. Wadephul said Albania maintains strong public support for EU membership and noted continued cooperation between Albania, Germany and the EU.

Wadephul added that further steps in areas such as rule of law, media freedom and efforts against corruption and organized crime remain important for the accession process.

Spiropali said Albania aims to complete accession negotiations by 2027 and seeks full EU membership by 2030. She noted high public backing for EU integration and highlighted ongoing cooperation with regional partners.

Wadephul’s tour of the Western Balkans also includes visits to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo and North Macedonia.
