Vehicle tail lights paint the night red on a pristine stretch of highway. The Duchy of Cornwall In conjunction with Cornwall Council and Network Rail, open a new route, part and parcel of the King's new town, with 15 years of planning and construction completed. The road, costing well £20 million is now open, forming an epic new route on the outskirts of Newquay, combining two new bridges faced in local granite and flanked by wildflower meadows and wetlands. The route enables traffic to bypass holiday bottlenecks at Trencreek and Quinterel Downs. Descending from the highest point in the district, the road cuts through fields and over the new, and still under construction, £60 million metro link, railway to Falmouth.
