A reckless driver barged through a police cordon in Maryland.

Kai DeBerry-Bostick, 28, ignored repeated commands from officers not to drive through the closed roads during the Laurel Main Street Festival on May 10.

Body camera footage shows the officer warning her not to drive across the blocked roadway.

The police explained: 'I apologise for the inconvenience. I'd be happy to call you a taxi.'

However, Kai refused and said: 'There has to be another way. I'm not taking a taxi all the way to Virginia. I work in Virginia. I don't have to come back. I just need to get out.'

Kai then tore through the yellow caution tape before leaving the area.

While driving towards the festival, she pushed an officer with her car, causing minor injuries.

She continued manoeuvring through the area where residents were enjoying food at the stalls before she was arrested.

Kai was charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, and related offences. The second-degree assault charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
