HMS Prince of Wales replenished supplies during an operation in the Mediterranean.

The carrier took on fuel from the support ship RFA Tidespring as part of Operation Highmast, the UK Carrier Strike Group's major deployment for 2025, which began in May.

Authorities said this key Royal Navy mission involves cooperation with a dozen nations and is expected to last eight months.

Led by flagship HMS Prince of Wales, the task group will sail to the western Pacific Rim via the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

Operation Highmast includes a series of large-scale exercises with British allies and partners.

The mission aims to reaffirm the UK's commitment to security in the Mediterranean and Indo-Pacific regions while also promoting British trade and industry and demonstrating solidarity with international allies.

More than 4,500 British military personnel will participate in the deployment, including nearly 600 Royal Air Force personnel, 900 soldiers, and around 2,500 Royal Navy sailors and Royal Marines.
