Dog caught on CCTV stealing durian but ends up writhing in pain
A pet dog was caught eating his owner's durian - only to end up writhing in pain from the notoriously fiery fruit.
CCTV footage shows the pooch Chao Thang tucking into the custardy flesh of the pungent durian at his home in Chanthaburi, Thailand, on May 11.
He was seen dragging his body across the ground following the meal.
Pet owner Samart Ratiphuri, 47, said Chao Thang loved eating durian despite having digestive issues right after.
He said: 'I brought the durian home and left it outside, hoping to eat it later. But when I returned after work, I found it had already disappeared. At first, I thought either my mother or sister had taken it, but they weren't both home.
'I checked the security camera and found the real culprit, Chao Thang. He even waited for me to leave before eating the durian.'
Samart added that his other pet dogs also loved eating the spiky fruit, but would also roll around on the ground afterwards.
Durians are safe for dogs to eat, but only occassionally. The flesh is high in fat, making it difficult for the canines to digest in large amounts. Additionally, its seeds are toxic and can cause intestinal blockage.
