Storyline: Super-fast 5G-A network expands across China [Voice_over] China's major telecommunication operators are moving rapidly towards the commercial deployment of 5G-A, which is faster than 5G but not quite the level of 6G. 5G-Advanced, or 5.5G as its also known, is 10 times faster than its predessor and will be employeed for applications including extended reality and naked-eye 3D display, which includes holographs. Telcoms providers like China Telecom and China Unicom are testing 5G-A programs across the country, while China Mobile has announced a pilot plan with 100 cities for 5G-A connectivity. In Beijing alone, thousands of China Mobile 5G-A base stations have already been established. [Sound_bite] Wang Juan, manager, China Mobile store: "Over 7,000 5G-A base stations have been launched in Beijing, providing widespread coverage within the sixth ring road and key areas." [Voice_over] China Mobile also plans to invest 1.4 billion U.S. dollars this year to expand AI-based applications in its 5G-A wireless network , and to upgrade over 400,000 base stations.
