PARIS, FRANCE - MAY 24, 2025: Protesters gathered in the French capital, Paris, on Saturday, May 24, calling for sanctions against Israel, which continues to commit genocide in Gaza. The demonstrators at Bourse Square denounced Israel's ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip and demanded that France impose sanctions on the Tel Aviv government and allow humanitarian aid trucks to enter the region. The protesters brought empty pots and spoons to draw attention to the famine in Gaza and chanted slogans such as "Israel is a murderer, (French President Emmanuel) Macron is an accomplice" and "There is genocide in Gaza, we will not remain silent." The activists carried banners reading "Occupation is a crime, resistance is a right. Israel, get out of Palestine" and "Allow trucks to enter Gaza." A 44-year-old protester, Myriem, told an Anadolu that she joined the protest to show her opposition to the French government's stance on the attacks in Gaza. She said she came to support the Palestinian people, who continue to suffer, and urged others to urgently take to the streets in protest. Calling the restriction of humanitarian aid to Gaza “scandalous,” Myriem said she could not understand how such actions could be allowed in 2025. "Deliberately starving men, women, children, and breastfeeding mothers is truly inhumane," she added. Writing by Ayse Elif Erdis.
