(SOUNDBITE) (English) JEWISH SWEDISH ACTIVIST DROR, SAYING: "Today is the 31st of May and my thoughts are back 15 years. 2010, 31st of May, I was on the Freedom Flotilla on its way to break the siege of Gaza to try to challenge the illegal Israeli siege on Gaza. We were attacked on international water. The Mavi Marmara was attacked and 10 Turkish activists have been murdered by the Israeli forces. This is unbelievable that it happened and it's even more unbelievable to think about it today because the situation has become worse and worse. The Israelis came on our boats on international water. I will never forget this morning between the 30 and the 31st 4 o'clock in the morning when we saw the Israeli command boats arriving, achieving and we hear the shouting their commands and we refused to stop and they attacked the boat, they came on the boat, they shoot us, they killed some 10 of them. And I must say that today we have to remember, we have to honor these 10 Turkish martyrs because your martyrs are our martyrs. They are martyrs for freedom. They died for freedom of the Palestinian people. They have been murdered by Israelis. Now Israelis continue with their murder. I was beaten very, very hardly. They broke my ribs, they stole my things and they kept me in isolation. But through the pressure of the world, we all were sent back after some days in Israeli prison and we have been really remembering. We went again, 2011, 12, 15, 16 and we said we will always go again and again until the siege of Gaza, until this illegal inhuman siege will be lifted totally and forever. Even today, I am quite sure there is a boat on its way. Today a new boat is going to Gaza because we continue the tradition of challenging the siege. Our suffering is nothing in comparison to the suffering of the people in Gaza. Our suffering is just a little thing. The people of Gaza have been under the siege and under the murderous regime of the Israeli siege from 2006. It is 19 years now and the world has awakened, the world starts to see what's going on. So we are happy that the movement is growing but today is a special day as I said. It's the day of remembering the people who came 2010 in order to challenge the siege and to awaken the world for the fact that the siege is going on and going on. The people who were on the boat were activists. They were non-violent. They didn't shoot. They didn't kill. They just didn't want to let the Israeli commanders go on the boat. And it is our right. It was our right to challenge them because they have no right to come to our boat and take our boats on international waters."STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - MAY 31: Protesters gathered in Swedish capital, Stockholm on Saturday, May 31, to call for an end to Israel's war crimes in Gaza. Hundreds of people gathered in Odenplan Square responding to the call of numerous non-governmental organizations and commemorated the 10 people martyred in the Israeli attack on the Mavi Marmara ship, which was part of the "Gaza Freedom Flotilla." Protesters carried banners reading "Free Palestine, Free Gaza," "Stop the Genocide," and "Boycott Israel." Chanting slogans such as "Children are being killed in Gaza" and "Freedom for Palestine," the demonstrators marched to the Swedish Parliament. Jewish Swedish activist Dror Feiler, who attended the protest, told an Anadolu reporter that he had been on one of the boats in the "Gaza Freedom Flotilla" in 2010. Feiler said he could never forget the moment they were attacked in international waters, and continued: "The Israelis came onto our boats in international waters. I will never forget that morning between the 30th and the 31st, around 4 o'clock, when we saw the Israeli command boats approaching. We heard the gunfire and their commands. We refused to stop, and they attacked the boat. They boarded it, they shot at us, and they killed 10 of us. And I must say that today we must remember and honor these 10 Turkish martyrs—because your martyrs are our martyrs." Feiler stated that Israeli soldiers detained many activists, including himself: "They broke my ribs, they stole my things and they kept me in isolation," later released due to international pressure. "Our suffering is just a little thing. The people of Gaza have been under the siege and under the murderous regime of the Israeli siege from 2006. It is 19 years now and the world has awakened, the world starts to see what's going on." – Mavi Marmara Attack Volunteers and journalists aboard the Mavi Marmara, which was part of the "Gaza Freedom Flotilla" aiming to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, were attacked and detained by Israel in international waters on May 31, 2010. As a result of the attack, 10 people were killed and 56 others were injured. Writing by Ayse Elif Erdis.
