His intestines came out: Eyewitnesses describe horror as Israeli open fire on aid seekers
SHOTLIST: GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE (JUNE 3, 2025) (ANADOLU - ACCESS ALL) 1. VARIOUS OF DETAILS FROM INJURED PALESTINIAN BOY YAZID IHAB SAMIR MASLAH ON HOSPITAL BED AFTER ISRAELI ATTACK 2. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) BROTHER OF INJURED PALESTINIAN BOY YAZID IHAB SAMIR MASLAH SAYING: "There was supposed to be aid at 8:30. My brother and I were sitting in the tent when they told us to go to the mountain near Al-Tin Street. My father was with us. He said, ‘Stay by the mountain, it's supposed to be a safe area.’ But it wasn’t. We waited there, and my father said he would go to get the aid himself because he was afraid for us. He left, and then the crowd near the aid trucks caused the fence to collapse from the pressure of so many people. At that moment, the army began shooting randomly. When my brother heard the gunfire, he stood on the mountain and started waving at the Jews [Israeli soldiers]—but he was shot in the stomach. His intestines came out. I screamed for help, pulled him back, and placed him on a cart. I treated him as best I could while we brought him here. But even after we arrived, nothing changed. We only went because of hunger. We had nothing to eat. He [my brother] was so hungry he said, ‘Let’s go to Al-Tin Street, take anything we can to eat, and come back.’ But we didn’t bring back food. We came back with nothing—only his injury." Our message to the children of the world is this: Stop the war. This is what happened to us. We’ve been deeply hurt. We want the war and the gunfire to stop—forever." 3. VARIOUS OF DETAILS FROM INJURED ON HOSPITAL BED 4. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) INJURED PALESTINIAN MAN, KHALID AL-LAHHAM SAYING: "Following army instructions, I went with a group of young men to the 'Alam' [flag] area at 6 a.m. to receive humanitarian aid. When we arrived, Israeli tanks opened fire on us without warning. I was wounded, and many others were injured—some were killed. We never even received the aid. We were forced to leave the area and head to the hospital instead. It was supposed to be a designated red zone and humanitarian area. That’s why we went there—for aid, only because of hunger..." 5. VARIOUS OF DETAILS FROM INJURED ON HOSPITAL BED GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - JUNE 3: In a new wave of violence in the besieged Gaza Strip, Israeli armored vehicles opened fire on civilians attempting to reach humanitarian aid distribution points, injuring dozens, according to local sources. The aid, reportedly distributed through the Israeli- and U.S.-linked “Gaza Humanitarian Relief Foundation,” had drawn large crowds of desperate residents seeking food and essential supplies amid a relentless blockade and bombardment. Eyewitnesses said Israeli soldiers fired live ammunition directly at the gathered civilians, many of whom were unarmed and waiting for aid. “The army started shooting randomly,” said the brother of Yazid Ihab Samir Maslah, a young boy who was shot in the stomach while waving at Israeli soldiers. “When my brother heard the gunfire, he stood on the mountain and started waving to the soldiers — and he got shot in the stomach. His intestines came out.” Israeli forces opened fire early Tuesday on civilians awaiting humanitarian aid at a distribution point in Rafah in southern Gaza, leaving 27 people dead and more than 90 people injured. “When we arrived, Israeli tanks opened fire on us without warning,” said Khalid Al-Lahham, a young Palestinian who was injured at the scene. “I was wounded, and many others were injured—some were killed. We never even received the aid.” As hunger deepens across Gaza, many residents say they are risking their lives daily just to secure basic food for their families. Ambulances attempting to reach the wounded were reportedly delayed by Israeli forces, further hindering critical medical care. Earlier in the day, At least 54,607 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s genocidal war since October 2023, the Health Ministry said. A ministry statement said that 97 bodies were brought to hospitals in the last 24 hours, while 440 people were injured, taking the number of injuries to 125,341 in the Israeli onslaught. “Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added. The Israeli army resumed its assaults on the Gaza Strip on March 18 and has since killed 4,335 people and injured nearly 13,300 others, shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave. Writing by Nur Zeynep Dukmen
