The vote was instigated by Tusk in the wake of right-wing candidate Karol Nawrocki's victory in the June 1 presidential runoff. The Sejm, composed of 460 elected members, plays a central role in Poland’s legislative process, with authority to pass laws, approve budgets and vote on motions of confidence in the government.
