VARIOUS OF PEOPLE IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA PROTESTING ISRAEL'S GENOCIDE IN GAZA / PEOPLE HOLDING BANNERS AND FLAGS / PEOPLE CHANTING SLOGANS AND MARCHINGSARAJEVO, BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA - JUNE 12: Hundreds of people gathered in the capital Sarajevo on Thursday to protest Israel’s ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip, voicing solidarity with Palestinians and demanding an end the genocide. The protest began at the historic Sebilj Fountain in the city’s Baščaršija district, where Bosniaks and supportive tourists assembled carrying Palestinian flags and signs. Demonstrators marched toward Ferhadija Street, chanting slogans such as “Stop the genocide,” “Freedom for Palestine,” “Netanyahu, you will be tried,” and “Stop Israeli terrorism.” Many protesters carried symbolic models representing Palestinian babies and children killed by Israeli strikes. Others expressed solidarity with those aboard the "Madleen" ship, which was intercepted by Israeli forces while attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. Marchers also held a large banner reading “You can’t burn the truth,” criticizing countries—including the United States—that have continued to support Israel amid its deadly campaign. The peaceful protest underscored growing global outrage over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and calls for immediate international action. Israel has continued to close all Gaza’s border crossings to humanitarian aid since early March, amid warnings by aid agencies of the risk of famine among Gaza’s 2.4 million inhabitants. The Israeli army, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing over 55,200 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave. Reporting by Elman Omic // Writing by Mustafa Tuncer
