Smoke seen coming from plane engine parked at airport in India
This is the dramatic moment smoke was seen coming from a plane engine parked at an airport in India.
Airport officials said smoke and sparks were seen coming from the aircraft's left wheel shortly after it landed at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow on June 15.
Saudia Airlines flight SV 3112 was carrying around 250 Hajj pilgrims. The flight departed from Jeddah at 10:45 pm on Saturday and arrived in Lucknow at 6:30 am on Sunday.
Terrifying footage shows the Airbus A330 emitting smoke while stationary on the tarmac.
Local media reported that the issue was later identified as a sudden hydraulic leak, which caused the wheel assembly to overheat, triggering the sparks.
All passengers on board were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported.
An investigation into the mechanical fault is currently underway. Airport operations remained unaffected.
The incident comes just days after the deadly crash of Air India Flight 171 on June 12, when a Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed approximately 30 seconds after takeoff from Ahmedabad Airport, en route to London Gatwick.
Just one person from the 244 onboard survived.
The jet smashed into the doctors' hostel of BJ Medical College, sending debris, smoke and fire hundreds of feet into the air, and turning the whole area into what looked like a war zone.
Authorities have confirmed the death toll has risen to 270. An investigation into the cause of the tragedy is ongoing.
