GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - JUNE 16, 2025: Palestinians gathered along Salah al-Din Street in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, on Monday, June 16, and rushed to an aid distribution center as shortages of food, water, and medicine continue to grip the war-torn enclave. Carrying the few bags of flour and food parcels they managed to obtain, Palestinians returned to their homes and shelters. Israel has blocked the entry of humanitarian, food, and medical supplies into Gaza since March 2, leading to widespread famine and the near-collapse of the health care system. A new Hunger Hotspots report released Monday by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP) highlighted worsening conditions in Gaza, where the entire population of 2.1 million faces crisis or worse levels of food insecurity. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing nearly 55,400 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
