Firefighting aircraft were deployed to battle a wildfire approaching power lines in Piru, California.

The blaze, named the Howe Fire, erupted on Monday, June 16, at approximately 6:19 pm in Ventura County.

Authorities reported that after burning actively for 24 hours, the fire had scorched around 44 acres.

A second alarm was raised to intensify the response, with officials calling in air tankers and additional helicopters to support ground crews.

Footage shows a firefighting aircraft deploying retardants to suppress the wildfire.

As of Tuesday evening, crews had successfully contained 60 per cent of the fire. The cause remains under investigation.
