US, Phoenix: Maricopa City Lengthy Stolen Vehicle Chase From Phoenix Ends in Rollover Crash
Phoenix, United States - June 21, 2025 06/21/2025 01:00 am GMT-0700 MARICOPA CITY, Ariz. – Locations: Stolen was first discovered near 59th Avenue and McDowell Road in Phoenix, AZ. (1:00 AM) Stolen vehicle crashed on Murphy Road just north of Peters and Nall Road in the City of Maricopa, AZ. (2:44 AM) Suspect arrested near Anderson Road and Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway, City of Maricopa, AZ. (3:00 AM) Preliminary information per authorities: Phoenix Police officers spotted a stationary occupied stolen vehicle in the area of 59th Avenue and McDowell Road around 1:00 AM. The vehicle was described as a white Toyota Corolla on black steel rims with an Arizona license plate of "VZA 520". Officers established surveillance positions and requested assistance from PPD Tactical Support Bureau resources as well as the air unit. Once resources arrived in the area, officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle refused to yield and felony flight was established. The Phoenix Police Aviation Unit began tracking the suspect from above while Tactical Support Bureau units followed at a safe distance, out of the suspects sight. The suspect led officers through the Maryvale area, cutting through several residential neighborhoods off of 59th Avenue and Encanto. The suspect the fled south on 59th Avenue, eventually entering the South Mountain Loop 202, traveling southbound. The suspect exited the Loop 202 near the Vee Quiva Casino and entered the Gila River Indian Community. Phoenix Police continued tracking the suspect with assistance from the reservation police. The suspect continued south through the reservation, then fled east on Riggs Road. From Riggs, the suspect entered the 347 (John Wayne Parkway) and led police south for several miles, eventually entering the City of Maricopa. Maricopa Police responded to assist as the suspect entered the city limits. At approximately 2:40 AM, the suspect lost control, resulting in a rollover collision on Murphy Road just north of Peters and Nall Road. The stolen Corolla careened off the roadway, landing on its side in a farm field. According to Maricopa Police at the scene, the suspect fled from the crash scene. Officers located the suspect a short time later near Anderson Road and Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway. He was taken into custody without further incident. Maricopa Fire crews and AMR Ambulance medics responded to the scene of the arrest and transported the suspect to a local hospital for precautionary evaluation. Maricopa Police stated they are taking custody of the suspect once released from the hospital and the Phoenix Police Department will be the lead agency regarding the stolen vehicle investigation.
