Phoenix, United States - August 06, 2025 08/06/2025 01:30 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz – According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety captain at the scene, a trooper attempted to stop a Dodge Challenger for a traffic infraction near 19th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. The driver of the Challenger refused to yield and fled from the trooper at a high rate of speed. A pursuit was initiated, and Phoenix police resources were requested for assistance. The Phoenix police helicopter quickly located the suspect vehicle. With the air unit now overhead, ground units disengaged from the pursuit and began tracking the suspect from a distance. The suspect led troopers and officers north through the city of Phoenix, eventually making his way to the area of Bell Road and Cave Creek Road. A Phoenix Police Tactical Support Bureau unit in an unmarked patrol vehicle approached the suspect's vehicle from behind as he made a westbound turn onto Bell Road from Cave Creek Road. The TSB unit deployed its Grappler Police Bumper, successfully bringing the suspect's vehicle to an abrupt stop. Additional DPS and Phoenix Police Department ground units converged on the suspect's vehicle, initiating a high-risk traffic stop. The suspect, now identified as an adult male, was ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint and taken into custody. He faces felony flight and reckless driving charges.
