US: Ax 4 Astronauts Enter Space Station As Mission Officially Begins

United States - June 26, 2025 International Space Station - The Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) crew has successfully docked with the International Space Station and begun their planned 14-day mission. At 8:14 a.m. EDT, Commander Peggy Whitson, Pilot Shubhanshu Shukla, and Mission Specialists Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski and Tibor Kapu entered the station. Their arrival was marked by a welcome ceremony with NASA’s Expedition Crew. Commander Whitson presented astronaut pins to her crewmates, announcing their official orbital flight numbers. Shukla is the 634th, Uznański-Wiśniewski the 635th, and Kapu the 636th astronaut to orbit Earth. The Ax-4 crew launched aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft atop a Falcon 9 rocket at 2:21 a.m. ET on June 25. The liftoff took place from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Over the next 14 days, the crew will carry out more than 60 experiments in biology and technology. These efforts are designed to advance human spaceflight and improve life on Earth. Ax-4 is the fourth crewed mission by Axiom Space, paving the way for Axiom Station, the first commercial space station.
