Emotional moment woman, 27, has head shaved in battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
This is the emotional moment a woman battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma broke down in tears as she shaved her head after several rounds of chemotherapy.
Anne Jely Flormata, 27, was diagnosed with cancer five months ago, and the treatment had caused her hair to fall out.
Footage shows Anne sobbing as a stylist placed a cape over her shoulders and began trimming her head in Cavite, the Philippines, on June 30.
She spoke with a friend who stayed by her side and tried to lift her spirits while the strands were slowly removed.
She said: ‘Oh no, it looks ugly.'
Her friend gently cut her off and reassured her.
He said: ‘No, you should keep that look, it suits you. You wear being bald so well.'
The young woman wiped her face and eyes as the session ended.
Anne added: ‘One of the most visible and painful reminders of this fight is the loss of my hair.
'It may seem superficial to some, but to me, it represents a piece of my identity, my femininity, my sense of normalcy. Letting go of it is not easy, and it never will be.
‘But if this is the sacrifice I must make in exchange for healing, for life, then I will do it bravely, willingly, and with my head held high.
'Because this battle is not just about losing hair, it's about gaining strength, courage, and a new sense of purpose.'
Anne said she completed ten sessions of radiotherapy and was in the middle of her eighth chemotherapy.
She said: ‘It's a journey that has tested not only my strength, but every part of my being, physically, emotionally, and mentally.
‘This is not the end of my story. It's just a chapter, one that I will rise from, stronger than ever.'
