A girl had a painful tumble when a startled pony threw her off its back.

Darlene Bagayan visited her family's farm, where she tried horseback riding for the first time.

Footage shows Darlene Bagayan sitting nervously, clearly unbalanced in the saddle, when she began screaming as the nag became agitated.

Her continued shouting appeared to alarm the animal even more, which picked up speed despite being led by a handler.

The frightened equine then jolted forward and bucked, hurling Darlene to the ground. She landed with a thud.

Her sister, Jean Bernadette, said: ‘That was how my sister fell off the horse. She just panicked.'

The youngster landed on her back before being taken to a hospital for a check-up.

However, she was found to be in good health and aside from a broken nail extension, she was not hurt.
