Phoenix, United States - July 03, 2025 07/02/2025 11:36 pm GMT-0700 MESA, Ariz. S Mesa police and the Mesa Fire Department were called to the Amberwood Manor Apartments in the 200 block of West 8th Avenue after a reported stabbing. Firefighters arrived as Mesa police were gathering information from witnesses and the victim. According to preliminary information, the stabbing victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Officers were directed to an apartment unit where a person of interest was last seen. Police parked a Tahoe in front of the apartment unit and began issuing commands over a megaphone to the occupants to come to the front door. After roughly 10 minutes of announcements, two men and a woman, accompanied by two children, emerged from the doorway. Officers began issuing commands to one of the men to walk toward them with his hands up. The man complied and was detained by officers. Officers attempted to direct the woman and her children to come to the officers for safety, but she refused. The second man attempted to walk back into the apartment; officers then deployed a beanbag shotgun. Officers quickly escorted the woman and her children to safety. The second man returned and began following the officer's instructions, walking toward them with his hands up, before being detained. Police have not confirmed the relationship between the stabbing and the two detained men.
