Storyline: Chinese ceramic makers crack into new markets amid evolving global trade dynamics [Voice_over] Amidst the unsteady world trade landscape, Chinese ceramic manufacturers are diversifying their clientele beyond traditional strongholds like Europe and the United States. Here in east China’s Dehua County, a major ceramic production hub, it's peak season for porcelain exports, with factories like this one churning out new year’s products well ahead of the holiday. Since the tariff truce between China and the U.S. officially took effect in mid-May, companies have swiftly resumed their shipments to American buyers. Still, with global trade uncertainties persisting, many are venturing deeper into emerging markets like India to hedge against potential disruptions. [Sound_bite] Jin Jiangbo, manager, porcelain manufacturer: "We've developed a product line specifically tailored for the Indian market, like flowerpots featuring vibrant colors like red, purple, and yellow. Our India market sales have grown by over 100 percent year-on-year." [Voice_over] In addition to India, those in the industry say Russia and Southeast Asian nations are also key growth markets for ceramic exports. [Sound_bite] Zeng Liangxiang, executive director, Fujian Ceramics Industry Association: "Ceramic companies are actively expanding into emerging markets, including India, Vietnam, and Russia, which now account for roughly 40 percent of our total export volume. Compared to the same period last year, sales in these markets have grown by over 10 percent." [Voice_over] Customs data shows that in the first five months of the year, Dehua County exported 200 million U.S. dollars-worth of ceramic products, a more than 15 percent increase from a year ago.
