Amazon truck skids on wet road and crashes down embankment
This is the dramatic moment an Amazon semi-truck lost control on a wet road in Iowa.
The vehicle was travelling southbound on Riverside Drive just before 6:15 am when it appeared to slide uncontrollably on the slippery surface while navigating a curve.
CCTV footage shows the truck veering left over the central divider before rolling down a river embankment on June 25. It came to a stop before it could plunge into the Iowa River, with its trailer blocking a sidewalk leading to the Iowa Memorial Union footbridge.
The close call happened only days after another vehicle crashed into the Iowa River on the opposite side of the Iowa Avenue Bridge. That incident involved an 18-year-old woman driving a 2009 Chevy Malibu just after 3 am on June 22. She was charged with operating while intoxicated.
Authorities have not released details about the semi-truck driver.
