This is the dramatic moment cars floated down a river as floods hit northeast Spain.

Footage captured by Albert Giralt Serena shows vehicles drifting along the current in the Cardener River in Catalonia on July 12.

Authorities confirmed that at least two people were missing following the downpour. Search and rescue efforts remain ongoing.

At Penedes Regional Hospital, southwest of Barcelona, 71 patients were evacuated after a power outage caused by the storms.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said: 'Follow civil protection instructions and avoid travel. Please exercise extreme caution.'

Last year, torrential rains battered Valencia in late October. The ensuing floods resulted in more than 200 deaths, with several still missing, after intense downpours overwhelmed riverbanks, damaged infrastructure, and forced thousands to evacuate.
