This is the amusing moment dozens of scarlet macaws perched on a holidaymaker at a zoo.

Jury Propheter and her mother, Judie, 60, visited Cebu Safari and Adventure Park to feed the birds in Carmen, the Philippines.

Spectacular footage shows the flock of colourful red parrots scattered around their open enclosure on June 29.

Moments later, some of the scarlet macaws suddenly settled on the pensioner's phone, shoulders, and head.

Judie can be seen frozen in place, worried that the feathered creatures might peck her if she moved.

A nearby zookeeper then approached to gently shoo the birds away.

Scarlet macaws are naturally curious and social birds. In captivity, especially in settings where they are regularly fed and handled by people, they often lose their fear of humans.

While these birds not usually aggressive, they may gently nibble or 'beak' objects to explore. However, if startled or threatened, they can deliver strong bites.
