St. Augustine, United States - June 29, 2025 On Sunday, June 29, 2025, around 3:30 p.m., deputies responded to a reported incident at 1054 SR 206 East after a 911 call reported a man trying to force a woman into a vehicle in the parking lot. Deputies discovered that the suspect had robbed the business before violently pulling a female employee out of the store. He dragged her outside and attempted to push her into his car. The woman resisted, drawing attention from a bystander who intervened and called the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect fled the scene, abandoning the kidnapping attempt. Florida Fish and Wildlife Officers located the suspect driving erratically near Marineland on A1A. He fled from officers but was later captured. Theodore Michael Tundidor, 31, was arrested and charged with kidnapping, robbery, and grand theft auto by SJSO detectives. FWC filed additional charges for DUI and fleeing and eluding law enforcement. Authorities praised the victim’s actions, saying, “The victim in this situation did everything right – scream/yell, fight, attract attention.” In response, SJSO’s Women Against Violent Encounters (WAVE) instructors offered safety advice, emphasizing awareness, trusting instincts, and mental preparation. WAVE is a program by female law enforcement officers to educate women on threat awareness and basic self-defense techniques.
