At least 26 killed in latest Israeli assault on Gaza Strip
...GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - JULY 18, 2025: At least 26 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed and dozens more wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip on Friday, July 18. Israeli forces carried out a series of airstrikes and drone attacks targeting displacement camps and civilian homes across the Gaza Strip. In the early hours, Israeli strikes hit tents and a house sheltering displaced civilians in the southern city of Khan Younis. In Rafah, six Palestinians were shot near an aid distribution point. In Gaza City’s eastern Tuffah neighborhood, three people were killed in a strike on a civilian-populated area. A separate attack on a residential home killed at least five and injured ten others, with reports of people trapped under the rubble. In western Khan Younis, an Israeli drone strike on tents killed a woman and a child, injuring at least nine. In the southern coastal Mevasi area, five more Palestinians were killed and 15 injured when tents housing displaced individuals were hit. In the northern town of Jabalia, five people were killed and several others wounded when an Israeli strike targeted a home. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, 2023, killing nearly 59,000 Palestinians so far, most of them women and children. The relentless bombardment has destroyed the enclave and led to food shortages and a spread of disease. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
