An Indian tourist was arrested for allegedly stealing from a transgender sex worker while he was showering.

Nizamuddin, 34, was having drinks when the ladyboy struck up a conversation with him at a pub in 'Sin City' Pattaya in Thailand on Friday.

He paid the sex worker to go back to his hotel and told him to take a shower before allegedly rifling through his bag to steal 7,000 baht (160 GBP) in cash.

However, he was soon discovered by the Thai prostitute who found him frantically stashing the money away in his hotel safe box. The outraged local screamed for help and guesthouse staff barged into the room before calling police.

Officers arrived at the scene after being alerted to the alleged theft at 3 am.

Police Lieutenant Sakyapap Chaidet of Pattaya City Police Station said: ‘We recorded the information in the daily log as evidence and detained the foreign man to calm him down. He was still speaking incoherently, weeping, and could not provide clear information.

‘We took him into a cell, where he went on a rampage and started shouting. We will investigate further and proceed with legal action.'

The trans woman, who was not named by police, said he had tried to storm out to report to the staff but Nizamuddin blocked the doorway and dragged him back inside. He then began shouting for help, prompting the workers to barge into the room to help.

Police said they were waiting for Nizamuddin to calm down for questioning.

The incident came just two days after three ladyboys stole money from a disabled British tourist who hired them for sex in the same resort town.

The trio allegedly made off with 6,000 baht in local currency and 150 pounds in British notes while Chris John Glennon, 60, shuffled into the shower as he prepared expectantly for a wild night on July 16.

The tourist was horrified when he emerged and the room was bare with some of his money missing.

Police said they were hunting two Thai suspects who had left their IDs at reception. The third suspect was still being identified.

Former fishing village Pattaya became popular with American troops on 'rest and relaxation' breaks in the 1950s and 1960s when the U.S. military had bases in Thailand while fighting Communism in Vietnam. Rural families are said to have even dressed their sons as women to cash in on the gold rush.

The handful of bars in the coastal town quickly grew and it is now the world's biggest sex holiday destination, with round-the-clock prostitution and drugs - a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah rife with crime and debauchery.

Government chiefs have attempted to clean up the city but regular violence, depravity and claims of corruption continue to blight its reputation.
