US, Los Angeles: LAX K9 Search Teams Return from Flood Stricken Texas Part 1
Los Angeles, United States - July 27, 2025 07/27/2025 08:00 am GMT-0700 LAX – After more than two weeks on the front lines of disaster response, Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) canine teams are returning home today from a challenging 18-day deployment to flood-ravaged Central Texas. Activated by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) on July 8, the specialized teams were dispatched to assist in search and recovery operations following historic and catastrophic flooding that left widespread devastation across multiple Texas communities. Fire Captain Celina Serrano and K9 Prentiss, along with Firefighter Paramedic Jonathan Munguia and K9 Clifford, were deployed alongside Search Team Manager Fire Captain Michael Devine. The trio represented L.A. County as part of a broader task force of elite California search units, which included crews from Oakland, Sacramento, Menlo Park, Orange County, and Riverside County. “All canine teams and first responders are to be commended for their steadfast commitment in assisting with the search and recovery efforts in Central Texas,” said L.A. County Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone. “We continue to stand alongside the residents and communities impacted by the devastating flooding and pray for continued strength and resilience.” The returning crews arrived at Los Angeles International Airport early this morning. Following their homecoming, the teams proceeded to the LACoFD Technical Operations Section for debrief and equipment demobilization.
