Helicopter performs rescue drills on tanker ship off the coast of Germany
This is the dramatic moment a helicopter performed a rescue drill on a tanker ship off the coast of Germany.
Footage captured by crew member Jefferson Orfano shows the Eurocopter EC225 Super Puma hovering over the vessel as it passed through Sweden.
A rescuer wearing a boiler suit and full safety gear can be seen swiftly descending on a rope onto the ship's deck on July 29.
The chopper crew then lowered a dummy in an orange jumpsuit, simulating an injured worker, followed by a rescue litter.
Moments later, the emergency responder demonstrated basic first aid procedures before securing the dummy onto the airlift stretcher.
The team then carefully hoisted the 'injured' individual back up to the helicopter for simulated transport to a hospital.
Jefferson said: 'This was a rescue drill while we were passing through Brantevik, heading to Germany.'
Rescue drills like these are critical for offshore operations, especially for vessels carrying hazardous materials or operating in remote sea routes.
These exercises ensure helicopter crews and ship personnel can respond swiftly and efficiently in real emergencies, such as medical evacuations, accidents, or man-overboard situations.
