- July 31, 2025 The Israel Defense Forces’ 98th Division has completed its mission in northern Gaza, wrapping up a months-long campaign against militant strongholds in Khan Younis, Shejaiya, and Zeitoun. Over the last month, the division focused on dismantling infrastructure and weapon stockpiles both above and below ground. During the operation, more than 1,500 militant sites were destroyed and dozens of armed operatives were neutralized. The offensive significantly degraded Hamas’ Shejaiya Battalion, which had taken part in the October 7 attacks. Some of those eliminated were directly involved in the massacre, according to intelligence sources. The 98th Division is now being repositioned for future missions as part of the ongoing military strategy.
