KHAN YOUNIS, GAZA, PALESTINE - AUGUST 1, 2025: The moment an Israeli airstrike struck the Al-Albani Mosque in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, was captured on video on Friday, August 1. The footage shows the impact of the explosion and the subsequent destruction of the mosque, as well as the surrounding area where displaced Palestinians were sheltering in tents. Emergency crews and ambulances rushed to the scene following the attack. The mosque had already suffered damage from previous Israeli strikes. Since the start of its genocide in the besieged enclave, Israel has systematically targeted civilian facilities, including schools, hospitals, and places of worship. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing more than 60,00 Palestinians, most of them women and children. The relentless bombardment has destroyed the enclave and led to food shortages. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
