A prolific sleeptalker has recorded his antics and captured himself on his phone and talking - while fast asleep.

Billy Kelshaw, 49, noticed that he would sleep talk 18 years ago when his ex-girlfriend woke him up in the night, telling him he would speak a lot.

He said he didn't realize he had a problem until he "bonked" his girlfriend on the head in the middle of the night."

In November 2022, Billy and his wife, 45, decided to install a camera in the bedroom to see what antics he was getting up to in the night.

While he had been asleep, Billy made phone calls to his mom, thought he was being chased by a shark - and had conversations with his wife.

Billy, who is between jobs, from Tampa Bay Area, Florida, said: "Most of the time I am just speaking common nonsense."

"I have fallen out of bed before, thinking I was being chased by a shark."

"Recently, I called my mom in my sleep, asking her if we had some weddings to go to."

"Once I started shouting out the window, thinking that my daughter was shooting fireworks out of our yard."

"I have done everything except grabbing a car basically."

Billy first knew he had a sleeptalking problem 18 years ago when his ex-partner at the time said he talked a lot in his sleep.

In November 2022, Billy and his current wife decided to put a camera in their bedroom to capture his antics.

Billy said: "My current wife and I have been married for eight years."

"She has always said that I have been doing things in my sleep."

"I was amazed when I saw what I would get up to."

"I was like 'what the heck is this'."

"My wife asked me if I remember doing any of this, and I never do."

Billy said that his sleep dilemma has been turned into family fun.

Whenever he has family around, he said they will all sit around the TV and have a good laugh at his night time routines.

Billy said: "When I first watched myself back, I was dying laughing, but I couldn't believe what I was seeing."

Billy said that his wife is a good sport and largely finds his sleep talking "hilarious"

But he admitted that if she is feeling "cranky" he might get hit."

He said: "99 percent of the time, my wife finds it hilarious."

"It is a sleep disorder, it can be a precursor to Parkinson's but I spoke to my doctor and he is not worried."

"My wife is a nurse and was concerned for my health, and she monitors me to make sure I am safe."

"If she is cranky, she might hit me."

"When we have family gatherings, we all get around and have a good laugh."
