This is the amusing moment an African lovebird was spotted hanging upside down from his box.

Pet owner Abigail Garcia noticed Mango sleeping with his head down and facing forward in his enclosure in Rizal, the Philippines.

Footage shows the woman calling the three-month-old bird's name to check if he was okay on April 19.

After calling the feathered creature multiple times and seeing it not move, the worried keeper feared he was dead—until the bird opened his eyes but continued to remain still.

Abigail said: 'Mango is the baby of our first pair of birds and was the first bird we hand-fed when he was just two weeks old.

'A few weeks later, we really began to enjoy his company. He's like a little kid—very playful and mischievous. He flies all over the house, lands on our heads or arms, and loves playing with us.

'One time, I caught Mango pretending to be dead—it was actually the second time he did it. He lay completely still and didn't react when I called him. But the moment I tickled him, he suddenly flew up and landed on my head.'

African lovebirds are known for their playful personalities, affectionate nature and often exhibit quirky behaviours.
