Suspended ceiling concealed giant hornet hive over three feet tall
A homeowner discovered a giant hornet hive over three feet tall inside a suspended ceiling.
Footage shows the massive nest above the upper wall surface of a house in Guangxi, China.
The owner of the building recalled hearing buzzing sounds above his ceiling, prompting him to investigate—only to find the enormous hive on July 26.
He said: 'I plan to bring in a professional hornet removal specialist to deal with it after the Mid-Autumn Festival in October.'
Giant hornets, particularly the Asian giant hornet, are among the largest hornet species in the world. Known for their potent stings and aggressive behavior when threatened, they build large, football-shaped nests made from chewed wood pulp.
These nests can expand rapidly during warm seasons and are typically hidden in tree hollows, attics, or wall cavities—posing a serious danger when located near homes or public areas.
