Pakistani man hacked in brutal attack in Bangkok during clash with locals
A Pakistani man was allegedly hacked by locals leaving him seriously injured from a brutal knife attack in Bangkok.
Asad Saleem, 21, was reportedly slashed by Thai thugs during a violent row in the Soi Pracha Uthit 79 area of the city.
His friends dragged him away from the chaos before calling police at 2:23 am local time today.
Emergency services arrived at the Bangchak petrol station after receiving the report. They found Asad slumped against an electric post while bleeding on the pavement. Medics said he had numerous wounds from being repeatedly sliced by a sharp object.
Asad was given first aid and rushed to the Charoenkrung Pracharak Hospital for further treatment.
Rat Burana Police Station officers investigated the scene, but said he must file a complaint at the Thungkru Police Station, which has jurisdiction over the area, before legal action can be taken.
His Pakistani friend, Chakrit, 28, speaking in Thai, said they were supposed to meet at Soi Pracha Uthit 79 but the fighting had already broken out by the time he arrived.
A passer-by, Warunee Jitsanongchart, 55, said she was dropping off a passenger when she noticed two groups squaring up to each other.
She said: 'Both groups were Pakistani, but one side called their Thai friends for back up. When the Thais arrived, they probably stabbed the victim.
'The incident occurred at Soi Pracha Uthit 79, but the man's friends took him to a nearby petrol station to ask for help.
'I saw them standing there, and one of them was bleeding heavily. They asked me to call an ambulance because they didn't know how to contact emergency services.'
Authorities have not clarified the cause of the fight.
