Albanian Defence Minister Pirro Vengu said in a Facebook post that 37 wildfires had been recorded nationwide in the past 24 hours, with 30 still burning. Authorities ordered evacuations in parts of Elbasan, Vlore and Berat provinces. Vengu urged residents to cooperate with officials, avoid affected areas, and immediately report new fires. The Albanian Police said a blaze in Gramsh, Elbasan, was sparked by a fire lit in the yard of an 80-year-old resident, which spread to several nearby villages. The man is believed to have died from smoke inhalation. Local media reported that eight people have been injured due to the ongoing fires. The Defense Ministry said the firefighting efforts are being supported by the United Arab Emirates, Czechia, Slovakia and Greece.
