6. VIDEO MESSAGE FROM ALBANIA'S AI-POWERED VIRTUAL MINISTER DIELLA TIRANA, ALBANIA - SEPTEMBER 18: Albania has formed a new government 130 days after the general elections held on May 11.
On Thursday, Sept. 18, the Socialist Party of Albania, led by party chairman Edi Rama, secured victory in the elections with 53.29% of the vote. A session was held in the 140-seat Albanian Parliament to vote on Rama’s new government.
Of the lawmakers present, 82 voted in favor, while opposition members boycotted the vote. With a majority in favor, the new government officially won the vote of confidence.
Tensions rose in Parliament when Prime Minister Rama requested that a video message from Diella, Albania's AI-powered virtual minister, be shown during the session. Opposition lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Albania, the country’s largest opposition bloc, argued that the move was unconstitutional and responded by throwing objects at Cabinet members.
