Heartwarming moment gran, 89, hears birthday shoutout on favourite radio station
This is the heartwarming moment a gran heard her name being shouted out on her favourite radio show to celebrate her birthday.
Esther Gibbons, 89, was surprised by her favourite radio presenter wishing her happy birthday last weekend (August 10).
Granddaughter, Amy Gibbons, 27, colluded with her sister Claire to call into Downtown Country radio station and organise the shoutout.
They specifically asked for presented Jason Hughes, who Esther is a fan of, to wish her a happy birthday during the Sunday show she always listens to.
Amy then captured the adorable moment Esther heard the announcement and her emotional reaction that followed.
Esther, from Belfast, Northern Ireland, said: "It was honestly the best birthday present ever!"
"I listen to Downtown Country radio every weekend, especially for Jason in the morning."
"So to be surprised in this way was just so lovely- I couldn't stop smiling for the rest of the day!"
Amy, a financial crime associate also from Belfast, Northern Ireland, said: "I was so happy we pulled it off."
"She's seen a lot in her life it's hard to surprise her with anything these days."
"But it felt so heart warming to see her reaction in the moment. It made it all worth it."
