Nissan Altima crashes into the back of garbage truck in Rhode Island
This is the shocking moment a Nissan Altima crashed into the back of a garbage truck in Rhode Island.
Footage from the vehicle's rear camera shows the sedan screeching across an intersection before ramming the back of the larger vehicle in East Providence, in the early hours of August 8.
The car buckled from the impact as it scattered a shower of debris on the road.
Authorities said the driver, Ziondre Ogiba, 21, of Providence, and a 20-year-old female passenger were rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in critical condition. The occupants of the garbage truck suffered minor injuries.
In a statement, the East Providence Police Department said: 'Ogiba is facing charges of reckless driving along with multiple driving citations. The investigation remains active and ongoing by members of the EPPD Traffic Unit to determine if additional charges will be filed.
'The East Providence Police Department continues to investigate this incident.'
