MOMENT OF RUSSIAN ATTACKS ON UKRAINIAN RESIDENTIAL BUILDING KHARKIV, UKRAINE — RELEASED ON AUG. 18, 2025 — RESTRICTION: USERS MUST CREDIT “MAYOR OF KHARKIV IHOR TEREKHOV'S SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT" HANDOUT, MUST NOT OBSCURE LOGO —EDITORIAL USE ONLY— Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said Monday, Aug. 18, that a Russian drone strike on a residential building in the city was a deliberate act of terror, according to a statement posted on his social media account.
He noted that five drones targeted the building from different directions, striking people who were asleep at around 5 a.m.
Russian authorities have not immediately commented on the attack or the claims.
Kharkiv, the country's second-largest city, about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) from the Russian border, has been regularly targeted by airstrikes in the nearly three-and-a-half-year Ukraine war.
