GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - AUGUST 18: On Monday, August 18, Palestinians gathered in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza to retrieve humanitarian aid airdropped by military cargo planes.

The parachuted supplies are part of ongoing efforts to deliver limited relief to the besieged enclave, where Israel’s war and blockade have pushed the population to the brink of famine.

Many residents waited for hours under the scorching sun in hopes of reaching the aid, as shortages of food and medicine continue to worsen across the territory.

Israel has continued a brutal assault on the Gaza Strip, killing nearly 62,000 people since October 2023.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
