Los Angeles, United States - August 19, 2025 08/18/2025 11:39 pm GMT-0700 SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Emergency responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) were dispatched to reports of a sinking vessel near Fire Station 112, located at the intersection of 5th and Sampson Way. Upon arrival, LAFD fireboats and ground units located the boat in a channel. Crews observed that the vessel was leaning heavily to the port side and determined that dewatering operations were necessary. They found a crack in the hull, which was causing the boat to take on water actively. Firefighters initiated dewatering procedures and towed the vessel to a slip near Fire Station 112, where they continued to remove water from the boat. Eventually, two divers entered the water to assess the extent of the damage. They discovered a hole measuring approximately three feet by one foot beneath the waterline. Crews are still working to stop the influx of water into the vessel. At the time of the incident, one person was aboard, but they did not sustain any injuries. It appears the boat may have struck an unidentified object, but crews have yet to determine what it was.
