A monorail train was stranded on an elevated track in Mumbai’s Vashi Gaon area on Tuesday due to a power supply issue, leaving several passengers stuck inside.

Fire brigade teams evacuated passengers using a crane, while police personnel and engineers worked to assist the operation. Some reports suggested commuters were trapped for more than an hour before rescue efforts began.

The Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation confirmed the disruption, describing it as a minor power supply issue. It said operations between Wadala and Chembur were continuing on a single line, and assured that passenger safety remained the top priority.

The incident comes as Mumbai faces severe disruption from relentless rainfall. The city has recorded more than 300 millimetres of rain in 24 hours, leading to waterlogged roads, partially submerged local trains, and delayed flights.
