Sharonville, United States - August 14, 2025 A high-speed police chase through Sharonville ended in dramatic fashion when a suspect vehicle caught fire while trying to evade law enforcement. The pursuit followed a tip from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) about a car linked to two Cincinnati shootings. Sharonville Police Lieutenant Walter Cordes described the chase as “a little bit wild, a little bit different.” It began after license plate reading cameras located the vehicle in a Days Inn parking lot on Lebanon Road. The Ford Explorer reached speeds of 80 to 90 miles per hour on I-275 during Thursday evening rush hour. An officer said, “We're on the high-speed berm at 70, but traffic is really heavy here.” The vehicle weaved through traffic, exited and re-entered the highway, and eventually left the interstate on Montgomery Road. Near Kenwood, it collided with four other cars, causing significant damage. “He just wrecked into four vehicles. We’re continuing. This car's going to be disabled shortly,” an officer said. As the chase moved into Silverton, smoke poured from beneath the Explorer. “Car is on fire,” an officer reported. The occupants attempted to flee, but police quickly apprehended the driver and two passengers. “All three occupants are detained. We’re good,” an officer confirmed. The ATF stated the investigation is ongoing and declined to release the suspects’ names. Lieutenant Cordes expressed satisfaction with the outcome.
