DEIR AL-BALAH, GAZA, PALESTINE - AUGUST 20, 2025): Aid-seeking Palestinians rushed to receive airdropped aid parcels by cargo planes in Central Gaza's Deir Al-Balah on Wednesday, Aug. 20.
Palestinians gathered in the Nuseirat area to receive aid after waiting for hours under the scorching sun, but only some were able to reach the airdropped supplies.
Several parachuted aid parcels landed on the tents of displaced Palestinians, damaging or collapsing them and worsening the hardships for families already struggling to survive in harsh conditions.
The Israeli army has pursued a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip since October 2023, killing at least 62,122 people and injuring more than 156,700 others, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
A ministry statement said three more people died of starvation and malnutrition in the last 24 hours, bringing the famine-related deaths since October 2023 to 269 people, including 112 children.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
